Eco Flexibles is celebrating being shortlisted as a finalist for three categories at the prestigious UK Packaging Awards 2024. The categories are Innovation of the Year, Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year, and Investment Project of the Year.

This recognition underlines the company’s impressive commitment to innovation, sustainability and excellence in the flexible packaging industry, as well as its vision for a more sustainable and circularity-focused future.

The winners will be revealed at the UK Packaging Awards ceremony on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Grosvenor House, London.

Innovation of the Year

Eco Flexibles has been shortlisted in the Innovation of the Year category for its EcoLidd RE HB PE lidding film. This recyclable high-barrier monomaterial polyethylene (PE) lidding film represents an exciting market-first project with Tesco and Cranswick.

EcoLidd enables the creation of fully recyclable packaging formats suitable for various product categories that are traditionally reliant on mixed-material packaging that are typically not suitable for recycling.

Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year

The project with Tesco and Cranswick has also been shortlisted as a finalist in the Flexible Plastic Pack of the Year category. The high-barrier EcoLidd RE HB PE monomaterial lidding film was sealed to a PE-based paper base, creating a fully recyclable pack format.

Investment Project of the Year

Eco Flexibles is also shortlisted for Investment Project of the Year, celebrating its substantial investments in advanced manufacturing capabilities. The company’s new HQ production hub, featuring a state-of-the-art Fujifilm Jet Press FP790, marks an important leap forward in the company’s commercial journey. Notably, the water-based digital inkjet press is the first of its kind to be installed outside of its native Japan.

Simon Buswell, Director at Eco Flexibles, commented, “The UK Packaging Awards celebrate the best of the best in the industry. Being shortlisted for these prestigious awards not once, not twice, but three times, is a tremendous honour. It’s also a reflection of our team’s hard work and dedication.

“When we started this business, it was to bring simplicity to the complex and change the narrative on sustainable flexible packaging. These nominations show we’re on the right path and reinforce our position as a flexible packaging industry leader.”
